They admit they are temporary, that they only last so long, and yet a rising trend in the anti wrinkle world is facial tape. Facial tape is a variety of treatment used to reduce wrinkles and make your skin feel smoother and younger by essentially pulling your skin back. It was used by the character in “Mommy Dearest” played by Joan Crawford. She would sleep with bandage cloths wrapped around her head and face to “keep gravity at bay.”
Wrinkle tapes don’t work the same way exactly. Now, they still focus on the idea that wrinkles are caused by the affects of gravity. They claim gravity pulls the skin down, reducing muscle tone and pushing electricity down the face, causing sagging skin. They give no regard to collagen, elastin, peptides, or the only natural ingredient proven to reduce facial sag, otherwise known as DMAE. It is all about gravity.
You wear facial tape at night, and it’s supposed to keep you looking younger for longer periods of time rather than necessarily reducing wrinkles that are already there. You can find it in magazines and infomercials, and there are now various types. The first is a rather new one known as the “instant face lift.” Before, it was just used at night. But with these products, you actually wear it during the day. It doesn’t work for everybody according to the manufacturers. But the idea is that you put an anchor hidden in your hair, and then you pull your hair pack along the hairline and use adhesive pads to gather all your hair. You attach these pads to the anchors with elastics, and your skin is therefore pulled back throughout the day.
The second type they now use is referred to as spa tape. They offer it alongside a body wrap treatment, and it is one of the hottest celebrity treatments now used. They use non chemical exfoliating treatments and they claim to remove dead skin cells, and then they tape the skin into position as you lay down. The jawline is pushed up to the cheek, and it is repeated every week or every month depending on the individual. It can apparently be used to treat double chins, sagging jowls, loose skin, crow’s feet, and wrinkles in general.
I am skeptical to say the least. I would rather see a product that actively regenerates or renews the skin so that the results will last. But some people have come to believe that they saw some kind of difference with this product.
